Chapter 112 - 112: Signing a Contract
Xia Xin savored a piece of fish as she spoke, “You’ve been eyeing me throughout this meal. I’m not nearsighted, you know. I can tell you have something on your mind. So, spill the beans; I’d like to hear what you’re up to.”
In fact, Jing MO had already guessed Sun Hu’s purpose for coming, and deep down, he hoped that Sun Hu’s visit would be successful.
Sun Hu swallowed a mouthful of fish and cleared his throat before saying, “I noticed that your followers increased again after the trending event. I wanted to check in and see how you feel about your rising popularity.”
Despite being secretly delighted, Xia Xin maintained an indifferent facade in front of Sun Hu. She replied, “It’s nothing special.”
Sun Hu rolled his eyes internally, finding Xia Xin’s way of speaking strangely reminiscent of Jing Mo’s cheeky mannerisms.
Sun Hu continued, “I assume many talent agencies have approached you by now?”
Xia Xin’s expression shifted slightly, showing that she was genuinely interested.
Having spent so long in the entertainment industry, Sun Hu possessed the ability to read between the lines. He could tell from Xia Xin’s expression that she indeed had plans. So, he continued to coax her, “I understand that you might not be familiar with these matters. Instead of signing with an unfamiliar agency, why not consider joining me? I guarantee that you’ll become as popular as Jing MO in no time, winning numerous awards. You know the resources I have, and by joining me, you’ll have the opportunity to act in any role you desire. Roles will come to you, rather than you having to choose them.
Isn’t that tempting?”
Xia Xin was genuinely swayed.
Earlier when Xia Xin checked her social media, she found many private messages, not only from her fans but also from talent agents inquiring whether she was interested in signing with their companies. Since checking her Human Affinity points earlier in the day, Xia Xin had developed an interest in starting a career. However, she didn’t know much about the entertainment industry and hadn’t responded to any of the inquiries.
Sun Hu’s offer seemed tailor-made for Xia Xin. Moreover, one aspect of Sun Hu’s proposal resonated with her. Rather than approaching an unknown talent agency, she preferred to work with someone she knew.
However, Xia Xin had another candidate in mind for that familiar person, her close friend Zhao Nan.
Zhao Nan was currently occupied with her demanding job, working with a temperamental celebrity who frequently assigned her various tasks. Xia Xin hoped to use this opportunity to convince Zhao Nan to switch companies.
Xia Xin glanced at Sun Hu and said, “Let’s not discuss the signing for now. I have something else for you to see.”
Xia Xin then forwarded Zhao Nan’s resume to Sun Hu.
Sun Hu opened the file and read the resume, looking puzzled. He asked, “You’re not suggesting that if I sign with you, I should also hire this girl as your assistant, are you?”
Xia Xin shook her finger and said, “No, no, it’s not as an assistant, but as my agent.”
Sun Hu looked at Xia Xin with concern. He asked, “Have you asked for her opinion on this matter?”
Xia Xin remained silent for a moment. This decision had indeed been made on a whim, and she hadn’t had the chance to discuss it with Zhao Nan.
Sun Hu continued, “She just graduated this year, and her capabilities and resources are limited. Starting as your assistant might be more suitable. If you decide to sign with me, I don’t mind helping you secure an assistant.”
Sun Hu spoke seriously, and Xia Xin couldn’t help but adopt a serious tone as well.
After finishing the meal, Sun Hu turned to Jing MO and said, “I’ve received a last-minute notice for a shoot this afternoon. After you finish eating, get ready, and we’ll go out together.”
While Jing MO had to attend to his matters, Xia Xin took on the responsibility of washing the dishes. After everything was cleaned up, she called Zhao Nan.
Zhao Nan was in the midst of buying coffee for her celebrity. Despite her busy schedule, she managed to answer Xia Xin’s call. Her first words were, “I saw the trending news. Your video really embarrassed Wan Wan. She’s like a mouse in a corner now; she probably won’t dare to harm you again.”
With coffee in hand, Zhao Nan received four bags full of coffee from a waiter and hurriedly made her way to the film set..
