Chapter 691: Explosion
Lord of Chaos also realized it was impossible to convince this evil being to leave the dimension and decided to join the battle.
At that moment, the Demons, Humans, and other races also realized how terrifying the Evil Goddess was and hurriedly backed away to the Baston Fortress.
The same goes for Devil Crow. After losing one of its wings, it didn't dare to stay near the battlefield and stealthily returned to its base.
'I'm not acting cowardly. If I fight this being at my base, I can trample it and kill it ruthlessly!' With that thought, it created a fake wing of pure black flame and flew toward the south.
Unbothered by the shameless Devil Crow's retreat, the Lord of Chaos slowly landed on the ground and unleashed an intense wave of icy energy, creating an aura of freezing temperatures around itself. This ability encased the Evil Goddess in ice and hampered her movements.
Even though the Evil Goddess Vespera was covered in many crystalline layers of ice, she calmly titled her scythe and released a unique darkish red aura around it.
A second later, a scorching heat wave came from the scythe and started melting the ice at an incredible speed.
As those Ice crystalline layers melted, Vespara calmly stepped onto the rocky ground and raised her scythe.
A second later, she made a vertical slash at the gigantic tree and released a powerful invisible force in its direction.
A deep vertical cut appeared on the Lord of Chaos's tree trunk in a blink, almost splitting it into two!
But all of a sudden, a dense, chilling energy came out of the trunk and enveloped its body in a fog. The icy essence within its body activated, rapidly sealing wounds and reconstructing damaged tissues. In two seconds, the Lord of Chaos appeared healed entirely.
At the same time, the Lord of Chaos suddenly opened two creepy eyes in its trunk and locked its gaze on the Evil Goddess.
Simultaneously, its roots started slithering towards the Evil Goddess at an incredible speed and attacked her from all sides.
Although the Evil Goddess easily deflected the roots and even severed them with her black scythe, she soon realized that strange roots had the power of death and life, making it almost impossible to sever them completely.
Whenever she cut down a root, it again reattached to the root and even healed the cut region.
Simultaneously, a strange soul power came from its creepy eyes, entered the astral realm, and started affecting Vespera's soul.
If Lord of Chaos had used that power on Devil Crow or even Charles, it would've worked perfectly and corrupted their souls.
Unfortunately, Vespera's soul was more like a boundless sea.
She quickly saw through the strange soul power trying to invade her soul and blocked it with a minute force field.
Upon realizing that even its trump cards weren't working against her, Lord of Chaos used his every inch of death power and cast the next spell.
A mighty, skeletal hand crept out of the rocky ground the next moment and tried to grasp Vespera.
Vespera smirked as she observed the skeletal hand reaching for her. With a swift motion, she twirled her black scythe and slashed through the bony fingers, dispersing them into a cloud of bone fragments. The Evil Goddess then stepped forward, her movements fluid and ethereal.
The Lord of Chaos, undeterred, summoned more skeletal hands, creating a nightmarish army of grasping bones. They emerged from the ground, attempting to seize Vespera and bind her in an unyielding grip.
However, Vespera was not to be trapped so easily. She danced between the skeletal hands with uncanny agility, her black dress billowing around her. Each swing of her scythe sent ripples of chaotic energy, shattering the skeletal limbs as if they were fragile twigs.
After a while, Vespera finally cut down the last gigantic skeletal hand and turned her attention towards the tree of Bone of Flesh.
"Playtime is over, Tree." A cold smile appeared on her face.
Even though it was just a casual smile, the Lord of Chaos sensed death loomed over its head and tried to move away.
But she once again raised her scythe and casually slashed at the Gigantic Tree. Unlike before, a terrifying arc of dark light came out of the scythe and became as large as 20 meters long.
The massive, dark arc cut through the Lord of Chaos like a hot knife through butter, tearing apart its bone and flesh structure. A shockwave of chaotic energy emanated from the scythe, creating a rift in the very fabric of the dimension.
The Lord of Chaos convulsed and shuddered as its colossal form disintegrated—the dark arc carved through the skeletal trunk, severing it into two halves. The eerie eyes that had observed the battlefield with malevolent intent dimmed, and the icy essence within the tree evaporated.
Vespera, surrounded by the remnants of her destructive power, stood unscathed amidst the chaos she had unleashed. The Baston Fortress, witnessing the cataclysmic battle, fell into a stunned silence. The various races, demons, and humans alike, watched in awe and trepidation.
Once an imposing force of death and ice, the Lord of Chaos now lay defeated and scattered across the battlefield.
The Evil Goddess turned her gaze towards the direction of the fortress, her crimson eyes piercing through the onlookers.
Although most had already entered the Baston Fortress, a few stood outside the fort wall and appeared to be waiting.
"They are making my job easier."
Saying so, she turned into a shadow of dark light and disappeared from there.
Within seconds, heads of demons, humans, and all other races began to fly up in the air, causing crimson blood to spurt in all directions.
But before she could enter the fortress, a defensive force-field layer suddenly appeared and covered the whole Baston fortress.
Even though the Evil Goddess Vespera was more like a Godly being, even her scythe attack couldn't pierce through the force-field layer.
"Let's see how long this petty shield is going to protect you," She said coldly, relentlessly attacking the invisible force field.
There wasn't even a scratch that appeared during the first few minutes.
But as time passed, a crack started appearing at the entrance and began to enlarge.
"As I thought, the Fortress owner is a powerful Rune Mage. Tsk, Although I don't want to use my 17:03
divine power yet, I have no choice." Evil Goddess made a casual comment and started gathering all her divine power towards the tip of the black scythe.
...
Meanwhile, in desperation, a gigantic bird with pitch-black feathers flew up in the sky towards the far south.
But all of a sudden, a gigantic three-meter-tall woman appeared before the Devil Crow and punched its face with full power.
A powerful shockwave shook the sky, causing the Devil Crow to dizzy for a second.
"Oh? I'm still not getting used to my usual body." Thera said coldly, took out an eerie black coffin from her pendant, and opened it before the Devil Crow's head.
Before the Devil Crow could even wake up and see the face of the enemy, an invisible power pulled its whole consciousness and body.
A second later, the Devil Crow stood in a space with nothing but darkness!
"Where am I?" It tried to use its wisdom power but couldn't. Not only that, but it also couldn't use its bloodline spells.
Panic surfaced on the crow's face.
On the other hand, Thera closed the coffin and completely sealed it using chains made of pure flame.
After that, she stored the coffin back to her spatial pendant and turned her gaze toward the direction where the War Castle was located.
"I hope nothing goes wrong," Thera said solemnly and continued to fly toward the Devil Crow's lair.
...
In the meantime, a goat-horned, winged demon flew towards where the War Castle was located and stood halted as it noticed the sudden appearance of a black-robed human.
"Who are you?" Azgan asked stiffly and soon widened his eyes as he remembered that face.
"Charles!!!!" An angry growl came out of the demon's mouth.
"Don't get angry, Azgan. Didn't you want to overthrow Devil Crow Nyxen's rule and replace your Lord? Thanks to the appearance of an anomaly, things became easier." Charles paused momentarily and soon asked while releasing his wisdom power.
"As per the deal, shouldn't you fulfill the contract and return the egg to me?"
The next instant, Azgan's face stiffened.
'What?! He is this strong?" Even he felt suffocated by the pressure of wisdom power and turned grim.
Azgan soon released his wisdom power to stop getting pressured and spoke with a shudder.
"But you didn't help at all! And because of you, this whole layer is done for! Even Lord of Chaos stood no chance against that being."
"Even if your Lord is dead, he will be resurrected after six months, right? So, why are you getting angry over that? As for the people, the deal between us is not to save people but to kill or seal the Devil Crow." Charles spoke annoyedly and raised his hand before opening his palm.
Azgan also knew it was impossible to talk this out and reluctantly took an eerie black egg from his space ring.
Then, he took it with his right hand and threw it at him.
On the other hand, Charles caught the egg, scrutinized it, and stored it inside his ring.
Afterward, he enveloped his body in a crimson flame and disappeared from there, leaving the ancient demon in abrupt silence.
...
A few seconds later, Charles appeared at the area where Thera battled the Devil Crow and smiled.
"It seems she also succeeded in capturing the Devil Crow," Charles muttered with a smile and was about to teleport but suddenly froze.
The next instant, a terrifying explosion resounded from the north, causing him to turn around in surprise.
Almost touching the black sky, a gigantic mushroom cloud appeared where the Baston Fortress was located!
"Damn it, this looks more like a Nuclear Explosion!" He drew a deep breath, released his wisdom power towards the south, and instantly teleported.
