Chapter 170
“I’m gonna have to go get Donalian Culton and some of the office staff involved. That’s quick. It won’t take long. Don’t look at me like that. I’m sorry,” Noah pleaded.
Kyle understood her rambling words perfectly and had a look on his face that he’d rather not have understood them. Without a word, he rose from his seat and approached Noah. Then, he pinched her left cheek tightly, stretching it out. “Really, Noah. Without consulting me at all, you’ve done everything reckless and I do all the cleaning. At this point, my doubt that you’re just treating me like a backseat passenger is becoming reasonable.”
“I did it, so I’ll take care of it!”
“It’s chaotic. It’s much easier for me to do these things. Why the mine? That is such an impulsive purchase. Overconsumption. Did you think of it at all?”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know this would happen. But it was such a loss not to buy that bonanza…” Noah tried to appeal to Kyle, but his temper only increased, so Noah had to surrender both of her cheeks as a sign of reflection.
After a long while of Kyle’s nagging, the interrogation of the miners was finally finished. There were two things left: Kyle’s task and Noah’s.
Noah edged Kyle’s back into the cliff. “Sir, then, you’ll have to go down now.”
“I’ll have to go down there? That’s weird.” Naturally, Kyle began to pry into her ulterior motives for trying to send him away. “You must have talked to fairies on your way up here earlier, what did you hear?”
“That Muell is cute…?”
“You’re going to run up the slope because Muell is so cute? You dislike walking, let alone running. You’d better stop making lame excuses and just tell the truth.”
Proving once again his excellence as an investigator, Noah had to tell him her conversation with the fairy, as she was left with no more excuses.
“Well, it seems that the bond between the soul and the body must be completely cut off. But looking at how healthy I am, I don’t think the bond with my original body is completely broken, and if this body of Eleonora was simply a corpse, it wouldn’t have been able to assimilate with me.”
That was enough explanation for Kyle.
“Oh, so the soul of Eleonora Asil still exists, too, and perhaps it was Adrian Rossinell who stole her soul. Somewhere, Miss Noah’s body will still be alive? So, while I close the case of the missing miners, you’re gonna look for your body, that’s what you mean?” spoke Kyle.
In complete astonishment, Noah mumbled, “I sometimes wonder how fast your brain works.”
“Is it possible? What’s the risk?” Kyle asked with a frown.
“The fairy said that the dragon cradle acts as an entrance to cross the dimensions. I was wondering if there might be something at the entrance.”
“I thought there might be something, but I can’t believe it.” Noah had already anticipated this. Kyle, who had been acting as her butler and guardian, didn’t seem to want to let her go. “I think I should go with you. I’m getting very nervous,” said Kyle.
“I’m not worried about safety because I have Muell.”
“I’m not worried about your safety. I’m worried about what kind of accident you’re going to cause.”
“But there’s Muell…”
“I’m more worried because you’re with Mu.”
Noah shut her mouth. It was better if she had Kyle by her side, but unfortunately, she didn’t have enough time this time. It was only two days before the dealers of Yulem came again. What needed to be done was send the missing miners back home, arrest Donalian Culton, and temporarily close the Maobiana mine. Two days would barely suffice. Noah wondered whether she must change her strategy in order to persuade Kyle.
“You’d better not waste your time, so why don’t you take care of your work, and then we’ll meet again? Adrian, you don’t know what that man is doing right now.”
Kyle was silent.
“The replica project seems to have already progressed far enough to make no distinction between humans on the surface with his own mana and the dragon’s,” continued Noah.
The day she found the collection of Eleonora in the library, Adrian had managed to extract a minuscule amount of Muell’s magical power. He may be attempting to create a real human being this time.
Then, Noah laughed out loud. “I think it’s natural that he showed interest in me. How charming I must have been to Adrian’s eyes. A human being who took over the body of Eleonora and became the master of a dragon. I must have been a very interesting study.”
Kyle could not utter a single word of reply, so Noah pressed on.
“Sir, if I find my body, I’ll have to deal with him.”
Noah remembered that Kyle didn’t want her to get close to Adrian. Soon after, the memory of Kyle asking about the real color of her hair and eyes flashed in her mind.
“And sir, you were curious, weren’t you? My original body.”
His violet eyes shook slightly with embarrassment.
