Chapter 144

Oh, I miss the butler.

Three days had passed since Kyle left for Central Edman. When Noah’s attitude of defiance, along with the little child, shifted a hundred and eighty degrees, progress immediately propelled.

There was only one exercise to be done in order not to be influenced by the dragon’s innate brutality without releasing the chains bound on her neck. The method controls the dragon’s mana so that it wouldn’t seep into the master’s body as if it were his.

“You should practice so that your body recognizes the dragon and you as completely different objects. It’s not just about mental strength. You have to apply it to your body.” Adrian said, taking his hand to Noah’s neck.

As he gently pressed down where the pulse was located, Noah felt a sensation of boiling iron pouring into her blood vessels. She breathed in amazement, and Adrian patted her on the shoulder.

“Stay with it. You tend to absorb it strangely instead of having no rejection when someone else’s mana is flowing in. You should be like a blank paper that won’t stain no matter how much paint is poured on it. So, just thinking about it makes the mana react. You should hold a dragon in your hand and wield its power, and you shouldn’t be the dragon’s weapon yourself. Don’t absorb it, but be aware of it so that it’s out of your body.”

It wasn’t as easy as she thought. More than anything else, Noah was helpless when Adrian’s mana, which he said would be much better to practice than the dragon’s mana, heated her whole body.

Unable to keep her pulse steady, she panted. Adrian muttered in wonder. “What’s wrong with you? No matter how little it is, it’s rare for a human being to absorb it so easily.”

It’s not my body – Noah swallowed such thought. But Adrian’s lips which were slightly curled seemed to have the same thought as her; he comforted her with great kindness on such subject.

“Yeah, well, we can’t help it. I just hope it gets better.”

Perhaps he knew he wasn’t Eleonora; only pretending he didn’t. Noah could tell what was going on and pushed him away irritably.

As Adrian said, the mana, which was at first as hot as boiling water, slowly began to cool down and soon was absorbed like it was her own.

No matter how hard she tried, it became difficult to distinguish the moment other people’s mana entered her. Noah knew intuitively that as long as she was trapped in a body not hers, there would be no way to fix it.

“Let’s stop here for today. Do the rest tomorrow.” Adrian slowly fell a few steps from Noah when she expressed her intention to stop.

These days, she has been visiting the Imperial Palace almost every day to meet Adrian. Their deal, under the guise of a class, began with her training and ended with Adrian observing Muell.

At the corner, the little boy was eating a strawberry tart on Adrian’s desk, whose mouth and chin were covered with crumbs. When Noah made a small gesture, Muell rushed to her. Then, she whispered secretly. “Mu, you know what to do today, right?”

Muell grinned mischievously, and Noah grabbed his cheeks, smiling brightly. Then, she handed the child to Adrian. “Well, good luck today, Adrian.”

“Thank you.”

What Adrian did these days was record the wavelengths of Muell’s mana. Adrian held him in his arms and opened the door on the left side of the Oval Office. Right next to the Minister’s office was a large research center where members of the Magic Department worked.

Noah glanced at Adrian who entered through the door and sat Muell at a round table in the middle of the lab before she quietly got up on the sofa she was sitting on.

“What can be purified, what raw materials of strength can withstand the dragon’s mana for as long as possible? Or how long can the dragon’s mana last when it is injected into humans rather than imprinted…”

Adrian seemed to be giving the wizards some instructions, but they weren’t clear from where Noah was. She then turned around and ran across the lab. It was the third time she had been there.

The research room on the top floor of the Magic Department building had a high ceiling and a wide floor, combining the fifth and sixth floors. The downstairs was full of all kinds of mana-making devices and designs, and upstairs was a library full of bookshelves.

The previous two days, Noah had secretly searched a small laboratory on the fifth floor of the lab, but not much was found on the fifth floor. She looked sideways on the sixth floor.

Today’s goal is that library on the sixth floor.

At the same time she set her foot toward the library, hot heat boiled from the side of Adrian and the researchers. Muell had begun to play, throwing fireballs about the size of his head.

“Muell! Calm down!”

“Play with me!”

“Argh!”

Surprised researchers squeaked and screamed. Noah even saw Adrian jerking towards the little boy, the corners of her mouth twisting into a smile.

Nice, Mu. Then, shall I go up there?

Noah quickly began to climb the stairs, taking advantage of the black flames that concealed the front of the staircase.
