Chapter 89 Unforeseen Surprise
Ding Wen was brimming with enthusiasm, his voice ringing out as he greeted Brother Yong with open arms, showing affection towards him.
The table had sumptuous dishes that caught Liu Yong's eye, eliciting his satisfied grin.
"It's quite a lavish spread," he said, "you must have spent thousands of dollars on this meal alone."
Indeed, it was no mean feat to shell out so much for a single dinner, and the cost of their extravagant feast was not lost on either of them.
But Ding Wen quickly dismissed the issue, waving his hand dismissively and saying,
"Ah, it's just a little bit of money. Come on, Brother Yong, try this Tomahawk steak. It's delicious."
The two relished every meal bite, with lively conversation filling the air.
As they savored the flavors, Ding Wen asked Brother Yong,
"By the way, where's sister-in-law? Why didn't she come along with you?"
Even though they were not blood-related, Ding Wen habitually called Li Changle his sister-in-law.
Despite this, he couldn't help but use the term affectionately.
Liu Yong replied, "She's quite busy with school starting soon." Ding Wen nodded and changed the topic,
"Hey, Brother Yong, have you heard about the massive shark that was spotted near RB? Apparently, it's already killed three people, and five more were attacked this morning. It's a real ferocious creature."
Liu Yong acknowledged the existence of the giant shark, stating, "I knew there was a giant shark, but I didn't expect it to have caused so much damage."
Ding Wen said,
"Many people and organizations are condemning the RB government, claiming that the giant shark is a result of nuclear radiation. With so many people dying every day, RB is under tremendous pressure to deal with the situation."
"I heard that RB has sent out a patrol to hunt down and destroy the giant shark," said Liu Yong.
But Ding Wen could have been more optimistic. "It won't be an easy task," he said.
"The giant shark is incredibly elusive. Finding and eliminating it will be a major challenge for RB."
Liu Yong nodded in agreement.
The people of RB were facing a daunting and dangerous situation, and it was unclear how they could overcome it.
After their conversation about the giant shark, Ding Wen shifted the topic and asked Liu Yong about his company's recent purchase of a 100,000-ton oil tanker.
"Have you secured any transportation contracts for it?" Ding Wen inquired.
Liu Yong was taken aback by Ding Wen's knowledge of his company's affairs.
"I didn't expect you to know so much about our company," he said with a chuckle.
Ding Wen grinned and offered, "If you don't have any transportation business lined up yet, let me introduce you to a few potential opportunities."
Liu Yong was intrigued. "Oh, really? Please tell me more. Where would the oil be transported from?"
Ding Wen explained, "You would need to go to the Middle East, transport oil from country A, and I can help connect you with interested parties. The details of the transportation contract, including costs, can be discussed with the other party."
Liu Yong was definitely interested in pursuing this opportunity and asked for more information.
As Ding Wen talked about potential oil transportation opportunities, Liu Yong couldn't help but wonder about his background.
He realized that Ding Wen had a vast network of contacts and asked if he knew anyone in the oil industry.
Liu Yong was curious about Ding Wen's family background and asked about it.
Ding Wen responded with a playful tone,
"We're good friends, so it's okay to talk about it. My family background does have something to do with it."
Liu Yong laughed and said,
"You're still teasing me. If you don't want to tell me, it's fine. I'll find out sooner or later anyway."
Currently, Liu Yong finds himself in a cheerful state.
The company's primary oil tanker has been docked at the port for a few days, and the necessary preparations have almost been completed.
Furthermore, all the required seafarers are present on board as well.
However, the shipping business has yet to be secured.
The domestic oil industry primarily consists of two large oil corporations. Additionally, a few private oil companies also require oil transportation from overseas.
Nonetheless, private oil companies are in the minority and lack a significant scale.
As a result, their prices could be better, and the business could be more stable.
Fortunately, Ding Wen unexpectedly provided substantial assistance to Liu Yong, which was a delightful surprise!
Qiu Yang gave a helpless sigh and shook his head with a wry smile after hanging up the phone.
He had contacted a private oil company a few days ago to secure their oil transportation business, but the matter was still unresolved.
We have to establish a relationship with the two major oil corporations. Once we secure their oil transportation business, we can finally relax," Qiu Yang thought.
"If that doesn't work, we'll have to venture out to the Middle East and arrange for the oil to be shipped back ourselves. I refuse to believe that no one will be interested in a full ship of oil once it arrives in Hong Kong..."
Lost in thought, Qiu Yang spent some time alone in his office before visiting Liu Yong.
Upon entering Liu Yong's office, he found him examining a postcard Ding Wen gave him.
It was the business card of a vice president from Yanhuang Petroleum Group.
To clarify, the "two barrels of oil" in Yanguo refer to the two major oil companies, Yanhuang Petroleum Group and Yanhuang Petrochemical Group.
Liu Yong beamed with delight as he examined the business card closely.
He couldn't help but feel grateful to Ding Wen for his generosity in giving away the business card of a Yanhuang Petroleum Group vice president.
"This kid is really something! He's absolutely bullish!" Liu Yong thought to himself.
After all, the vice president's level within the company was not low.
What made Liu Yong even happier was the fact that the vice president was responsible for oil transportation, procurement, and oil field development.
This presented a golden opportunity for Liu Yong and his Global Marine Services, Inc company.
Liu Yong felt grateful that someone like Ding Wen was willing to help him out. It was not something that ordinary people would do.
As he contemplated this, Qiu Yang knocked on his door and entered the room.
His voice was quiet and filled with pressure.
"Boss," he called softly, struggling to find the right words.
Liu Yong was in a good mood.
He never expected Ding Wen to give him such a big surprise by helping him establish a connection with a vice president of Yanhuang Petroleum Group who was responsible for oil field development, oil transportation, and procurement.
"Mr. Qiu, you've come at the right time. I have something to ask you,"
Liu Yong said, gesturing for Qiu Yang to sit on the sofa.
As Qiu Yang sat down, Liu Yong appeared relaxed and asked,
"Our oil tanker is not in business yet."
Qiu Yang sighed softly, lowered his head slightly, and his voice was relatively quiet:
"Boss, I still need to get into the oil transportation business, but I got on the line of Deputy Director Sun of Yanhuang Petroleum Group through my relationship. I'll invite him to dinner and talk about the oil shipping business.
To get in touch with this Deputy Director Sun, Qiu Yang put in a lot of effort and pinned his hopes on this Deputy Director Sun.
Even if he knew, this Deputy Director Sun was indifferent to himself and the entire Global Ocean Services Company, with an air of aloofness.
Even so, Qiu Yang is ready to go all out, hoping to find a breakthrough from Deputy Director Sun.
Liu Yong felt emotional for a while, and he could fully understand that Qiu Yang did not hesitate to use his hot face to stick to other people's cold **** to get into the oil transportation business.
"Mr. Qiu, it's hard for you."
Qiu Yang said: "As long as I can get the oil transportation business for the company, my sacrifice is nothing."
Liu Yong patted Qiu Yang's shoulder lightly and said slowly: "You don't have to humiliate him in front of that Deputy Director Sun anymore."
Qiu Yang was a little puzzled and looked at Liu Yong.
