Chapter 315 Victory
Chapter 315: Victory
It was only because of that young man that the Assembly of Freedom lost. If it wasn't for Kayn, things would have never played this way regardless of whatever the Green Horn City would do.
Against the Green Horn City and Old Mayor George, Chief Kylo was very confident that he can defeat them. He had already made years of preparation just to defeat them. Regretfully, he never made any preparations to defeat Kayn. That was his major mistake.
"If it wasn't for the variable called Kayn," Chief Kylo gritted his teeth. He never truly expected that the young man he decided to ignore during the battle in the Green Horn Village a month or so ago would bring such a dynamic outcome to the war.
Chief Kylo can't help regretting that if only at that time he did everything in his power to kill Kayn after the latter had cost him his first loss, then it should have been the Assembly of Freedom that achieved victory this time.
Unfortunately, there's no use regretting now as everything already unfolded.
Regardless of their present action, it wouldn't change the outcome of the war.
It was the defeat of the Assembly of Freedom.
A thorough and complete defeat.
With great difficulty, Chief Kylo announced to everyone word by word, "Everyone, we have lost the war! Retreat!"
As soon as Chief Kylo announced their retreat, the war drums for the Assembly of Freedom instantly turned silently.
Momentarily after, a series of loud noises made up of a mixed emotion of fear, anger, frustration, sadness, and regret echoed throughout the entire battlefield as countless men from the Assembly of Freedom started running for their lives to the north, east, and west direction.
If one would look from the sky, the men from the Assembly of Freedom would look like ants scattering everywhere after a huge and powerful force appeared in front of them.
That huge and powerful force was none other than the Green Horn City.
Although what truly scared the leader of this ant was only a single man.
Kayn.
"This isn't the end yet," Chief Kylo muttered before turning around. He balled his fist as he held himself back from what he is feeling. Deep inside, he doesn't want to run away from this war with his tail in between his legs. But what choice does he have now? Continuing the war would only add more casualties to his army, that is if they even still considered themselves as members of the Assembly of Freedom.
Nevertheless, this was a complete defeat for them.
However, this is not yet the end of the Assembly of Freedom.
"As long as I am still alive, I'll make them pay for this defeat!" Chief Kylo muttered in a voice filled with resolution.
"That's right," Magnus smiled. This was the best choice for them. A wise man knows when to take a step forward or backward. Only a fool would continue walking forward despite the odds being against him already. That was why he choose to follow Chief Kylo as the leader. "By the way, I have found an item that has the same ability as the Levitation Scepter, albeit it's a downgrade version of it,"
"It seems like you didn't completely fail," Chief Kylo felt slightly delighted. With that item, they'd be able to rebuild their force someday.
"Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to use it to the Freedom City,"
"That's alright, we can just make a smaller version of our territory,"
"That's not what I meant,"
Chief Kylo raised his eyebrow.
"The reason why I hurriedly came to the battlefield wasn't honestly to rescue Patter and Lecter, it's something else," Magnus shook his head. After all, he had given the duo a considerable number of powerful weapons to the point that they were no different from being overgeared Heroes. "The Freedom City had already fallen,"
Hearing Magnus' report, Chief Kylo's eyes widened in disbelief. "How?"
"Thousands of Undead Soldiers laid waste to the Freedom City when I arrived. And as we speak, they are continuing their march in our direction," It wouldn't be long for the Undead army to reach the Hush Village. And with their number, it would only take some time for them to continue marching south.
"Wesley…" Chief Kylo can already guess whose Gift it was that brought this Undead army as this was originally one of the defense mechanisms of the Freedom City. Unfortunately, because of Wesley's betrayal, he can no longer make use of it. And more importantly, it is impossible to remove thousands of corpses underneath the Freedom City due to the fact that they'll have to dig countless holes just to find each of them. "I've already expected this to happen, I just didn't know that they'd pull it off today,"
That's right! Chief Kylo already expected Wesley to use his Undead Army to attack the Freedom City, but he didn't consider the possibility that the latter would think of doing it during this war. After all, it is best to use it if they want to completely eradicate the entirety of the Assembly of Freedom, which includes him.
"I suppose they unintentionally did us a favor," Chief Kylo nonchalantly overcame the information he just received from Magnus about the downfall of the Freedom City. Similar to Old Mayor George, as long as he remains alive, the legacy of the Assembly of Freedom will persist, allowing them to continually contribute to their youthful history.
"That's right, we can start again," Magnus nodded in agreement. To start again is the best choice for the Assembly of Freedom right now. New system. New people. New beginning. New everything. And he believes that by using the lesson taught by their lost today, they'll be able to progress even more than the present.
This is the best opportunity their loss could provide to them as of this moment.
Wallowing in regret and their declination to their defeat would only bring a true end for the Assembly of Freedom.
As long as they persist to rebuild again, and continue to progress, the Assembly of Freedom wouldn't end today.
Both Moei and Marlon understood and acknowledged this.
"We might have lost today,"
"But it still isn't the end for us,"
With that being said, four figures simultaneously and suddenly disappeared from the battlefield.
As to where the four people have gone, only the future would be able to tell since being alive means their story continues.
