Chapter 310: The Fate of 'The Bridge' Part 1
With the main fighting force temporarily away and the three Chiefs being on the losing end of their fight against the leaders of the three Brigades, the rest of the men from the Green Horn City could only continue defending themselves from the madness and crazed attack of the Assembly of Freedom.
In addition to that, the deputies of the three Brigades and the two squads, Liberty Squad and Unity Rule, are now completely unstoppable from doing whatever they want to do to the forces of the Green Horn City.
With the situation right now, it is quite evident that Chastine's unexpected betrayal had caused a devastating effect on the entirety of Green Horn City. And with their powerhouses and main fighting force gone on the battlefield, their army couldn't help losing the Assembly of Freedom.
The Assembly of Freedom might have originally been the one losing the war from the start. But that doesn't prove that they are weak. It was only because their entire army had already received a considerable degree of damage before the war even began and was unable to quickly compensate for that that's why they are at a disadvantage against the Green Horn City.
Firstly, Chief Kylo lost the Kingmaker, thus preventing him from proceeding with the same Zerg strategy as the last time.
Secondly, with the Levitation Scepter gone, the Assembly of Freedom can no longer bring their entire force wherever they want.
Thirdly, the death of all members of the Freedom Fighters took a quarter of the main force of the Assembly of Freedom.
Last and more importantly, the Assembly Knights were already compromised by Kayn as Maria, Wesley, and Christopher, half of all of their entire members, are already part of Kayn's team. Of course, nobody knows about this yet aside from those that were involved in the operation.
Nevertheless, it doesn't stop the Assembly of Freedom from counterattacking and using whatever means that remains to defeat the Green Horn City from this war.
"Retreat!" Old Mayor George immediately commanded after barely being able to escape from the hands of death.
In the next moment, the entire army of the Green Horn City started dispersing and moved to the direction of the moat of the Dream Village, this includes the levitating Green Horn City.
Unfortunately, Old Mayor George's order to retreat didn't completely go according to plan.
With this first sign of weakness, some people unexpectedly decided to retreat and abandon everyone to save themselves as if they didn't see any hope of the situation ever changing again.
The action of the few might not have influenced the majority from doing the same, but it still significantly decreased the morale of the army of Green Horn City.
As a result of seeing the response of the Green Horn City, the morale and fighting spirit of every soldier from the Assembly of Freedom was greatly fired up, boosting all of them to continue chasing after the enemy soldier.
The trio, Chief Kash, Chief Harlem, and Chief Perceval, landed beside Old Mayor George.
"If this continues, it wouldn't be long until we lost this war," Chief Kash expresses his concern to Old Mayor George.
"We should have just let the first squad of Green Horn Knights chase after the traitor instead of allowing all of them to follow," Chief Harlem muttered in a regretful tone.
"That's right, we could have at the very least brought the battle into a stalemate," Chief Perceval agreed without a second thought as he was confident in his claim.
"What's already done can't be done," Old Mayor George shook his head. "There's no use regretting now as we've already come to this conclusion. All we can do now is defend and patiently wait for Kayn and the others to return,"
"We should trust them," Eliam interjected while still healing Old Mayor George from the wound that Chastine has inflicted. Right now, evidence of poison being used could be seen on the surface around the latter's wound.
"Let's just do the best we can," Van added
"We already are," Chief Kash sighs.
What Van doesn't understand was that they were already doing the best they can. The Assembly of Freedom is just too powerful than they initially expected.
Even though the Assembly of Freedom are not an organized army, the way they fight is like how monsters fight. As long as they have something they can use as a weapon, including but not limited to their teeth and nails, they will continue fighting and dragging each and every member of the Green Horn City with them to hell.
Just imagine how scary it is to witness someone who already doesn't have both feet and arms but still continues to fight using their teeth, or a headless person still clawing his way out.
That was the scene the soldiers of the Green Horn City are forced to watch as they continue fighting.
It was the ultimate nightmare for all of them.
However, no matter how much pain they are inflicted, they can never wake up from this nightmare and could only face it until the war is finally over with only one side winning.
Nevertheless, Eliam and Van's belief in Kayn and the others to return wasn't for nothing.
As soon as everyone from the Green Horn City's side retreated to the Dream Village, Kayn and the others finally returned with a grand entrance.
Boom!
Tens of people got blasted away to kingdom come and behind them were hundreds more, lifelessly and silently lying down on the ground.
Without wasting any time, Kayn and the others head straight to the Dream Village while leaving countless more dead bodies along the way.
No matter how many men from the Assembly of Freedom try to block them, nobody could hinder their way from reaching the Dream Village.
They were completely unstoppable.
With this realization in mind, the leaders of the three Brigades along with their deputies, and the two squads, Liberty Squad and Unity Rule, all decided to abandon the thoughts of stopping Kayn and the others in fear that they'll get added to the piles of dead bodies. After all, this is the main fighting force they are talking about.
