金发美眉的野心

Chapter 47 Obstacle

Jake walked down the colosseum to the sixth arena, where Myriad Arrows was battling.

He crossed his fingers, hoping that Myriad Arrows didn\'t have the horrible luck that he did. But it looked like that wasn\'t the case.

Myriad Arrows was already walking back from the sixth arena, looking at the approaching Jake and raising his eyebrows.

Both of them lost early, surprisingly. That was eleven gold that they just lost.

"What happened? I thought that you were so confident in yourself! You bet a whole ten gold on yourself!" Myriad Arrows asked, surprised that Jake was already done.

"I got matched with someone that I just could not beat. And even then, I was close. So leave it. How many wins did you get?" Jake asked.

"I got to five wins. Worse than I expected. But that was after using all of the Epic class moves that I had! I do not know how the game expects players to beat these NPCs! They are all at levels fifty and sixty!" Myriad Arrows complained.

"We can\'t do anything about it though. I lost a level, but I did level up quite a bit. I am already in the twenties. This increase wouldn\'t have come if we were grinding in normal fields." Jake said.

Myriad Arrows looked at Jake weirdly as if there was something on his face.

"You got to level twenty-one? That\'s it? I am already at level thirty-three! How are you leveling up so slowly? How many matches did you even win?" he asked, confused.

Jake smiled, but he could not say that the reason for his slow leveling speed was that he had a legendary class now could he?

If he revealed that, and this information suddenly became public, then he would be hunted down just because people would want his account.

"Let\'s just get going. We can get a little money from the wins that we did get. Keep winning, and we can level up from this wooden token to an iron one, and we don\'t need to pay a toll to travel to the colosseum anymore." Jake said, shaking his head.

Sure, he lost eleven gold. But that was nothing to him anymore. It was a small price to pay to try and obtain seven thousand gold, but now that he failed, it no longer mattered to him.

He planned to spend a little more time here and level up just a little more.

"But if I can level up so much here, why do other places exist? I can just stay here for a long time and level up till level sixty or seventy right?" Myriad Arrows asked.

"Your exp will decrease drastically after your first few fights. That is because the level disparity has decreased. Now, you will have to fight maybe four or five times to get a single level. With the battle experience of these NPCs, even though it is better than outside, it is also harder, and you risk the chance of losing your levels as well." Jake explained as they seemed to go somewhere other than the registration desk.

They walked through the small hallway between the giant arena and the outside of the Colosseum, between the giant pillars that supported this monstrosity of a building.

They stopped at a quite empty desk, with a half-asleep young woman behind it. The moment she saw Jake and Myriad Arrows walk toward her, she quickly sat erect and smiled at them.

"Welcome, gladiators. Do you wish to collect your earnings?" she said with a crisp, clean voice.

"How much are the winnings, even?" Myriad Arrows asked.

"I am glad you asked. The Colosseum has always supported the rights of the gladiators, and we share the proceeds of the ticket sales with the accomplishing gladiators. The gladiators who are unfortunate to leave without a win are compensated with two silvers. As for each successive win, they are compensated with ten silvers." The woman said.

Myriad Arrows almost coughed his guts out.

"Is she modeled after a spokesperson? Why the hell is she talking about rights and things like that?" Myriad Arrows asked.

"What about if we level up to the Iron token?" Jake asked, disregarding Myriad Arrows\' comment.

"For Iron token holders, they are people that fans come here to see. They get twenty silvers for each win. But to become an Iron token holder, you need to get to a hundred wins." the woman said.

"A hundred wins? That seems doable. We can just bring our entire guild here after they all reach level thirty or forty and we can start grinding here right? We can earn money while doing it." Myriad Arrows said.

"Maybe we will do that for a single day, but we can\'t focus on that. The goal isn\'t to just earn money. A guild needs to expand. Our goal isn\'t the east. It is the western world that is controlled by the NPCs. Let us just cash in first. Go ahead." Jake smiled.

Myriad Arrows nodded as he gave his wooden token to the woman. She looked at it and nodded. As she tapped the token, the two numbers disappeared, and she turned the token around, where the number five was written in a bigger font and in a green hue.

"This is your win count. As long as you get to a hundred wins, this will turn iron." the woman said as she took out a bag of fifty silvers and handed it to Myriad Arrows.

"Wow, this is a lot of money!" Myriad Arrows nodded.

"Indeed. A single day and you can earn fifty silvers. That sounds like minimum wage to me though, doesn\'t it?" Jake chuckled as he handed his token to the woman.

As the woman touched the token though, she frowned.

"Forgive me, but there is a problem with your token," she said.
