Chapter 463 Phoenix Trial?
Chapter 463 Phoenix Trial?
The strongest mage in the country was a woman wearing a long black robe that showed her slender pale legs and a tiny part of her bust. A dark hair that one may confuse with the darkest night and brown eyes that shone with the hot sun above their heads.
Delicate facial features and an appearance of a 23-year-old woman, but Arthur knew it had to be more, as it was common among mages to keep their youthful appearance if they were powerful.
"Myla!"
They said their name before she even landed a foot in the school, Arthur saw Myla flying on a massive sword, her hair hasty with the wind, just like her clothes. She looked gorgeous and much like a hero from a story; at least, Arthur thought so.
She jumped from the sword when she got close to the ground, and then the sword changed to a standard form, a smaller one that she could use to fight.
An older man came to see her when she arrived at the school. Arthur guessed it was the school\'s principal, and he looked old with a long beard, just like him!
"Principal Irric, long time no see," Myla said, smiling.
Arthur was not far from the two, cleaning up the rock path that went through the school, swiping his broom, making it look fresh. He wanted to see their level of power, and sure thing, both were rank-three mages, but Myla had the upper hand, being someone close to the peak of rank-three.
"Weaker than the mages I found in the demon continent," Arthur thought.
<Level 120>
<Average Attributes: 700>
<Level 115>
<Average Attributes: 800
Interestingly, the weaker principal had a higher level, yet Myla, even with a lower level, had more attributes than him.
That meant she took her time to evolve and did not rush through the levels, creating an unstable frame. Also, the principal was old, so that might affect something.
"Let\'s talk inside," Irric said, leading the way.
The two moved toward the main building with all the students, whether inside the classroom or not, gazing at them with awe eyes. All the girls wanted to be like Myla, and the boys recognized Irric\'s strength, but they did not want to be older men.
Arthur kept looking at them, thinking about whether he should follow them. No one could see him, be it mages or magical formations, if he wanted.
"Should I hear their conversation? For the strongest mage to be here, something must be happening. Also, now that I remember, the guys in my store called her Hen. Is it her surname, first name, middle name, or just a nickname?" thought Arthur.
The people in the shop were yet to get completely drunk, so Arthur believed they had spoken actual words. Could it be that the woman before his eyes was not the same person the guys back at the store were thinking about?
That increased his curiosity even more, so Arthur decided to drop his broom in a corner and follow them, invisible. No one noticed that an older man who had the job of a cleaner had vanished from thin air.
Arthur passed through the school\'s courtyard, reaching the main building, and then up to the principal\'s room. Irric opened the door for Myla to go inside first, and Arthur took the opportunity to teleport to the corner of the room, entering before Myla moved one inch.
Each sat on a chair, staring at one another for a few seconds, before Irric said, "is it true there\'s a phoenix trial in the Deepwater Archipelago?"
"I think so, yes. My party and I found it months ago, yet only rank-three mages have the power to get near it, and no one passed the first level of the trial…."
"Are you sure it is a Phoenix? This is a legendary creature we are talking about. I remember a messenger from our strongest planet said there are no Phoenixes there."
"I know, and I am happy that you did that. We are certain this is something like a legacy left by a Phoenix, but we cannot share this with anyone, especially to other planets, or they will send their powerful mages to get it from us."
"You don\'t need to tell me that. Are you certain our weaker mages cannot try to pass this trial?"
"Maybe it can work if we protect them, so they get inside, but it might be hell for them if it is difficult for us. At least we are already certain you cannot die inside, at least not on the first level."
The two talked about something extraordinary, and even Arthur, standing still in the corner hearing everything, could not believe it. A Phoenix? That was his bloodline!? Arthur had discovered that some time ago from someone that had said she was his sister!
If there was someone that could go and see if it was indeed a Phoenix trial, then that person was Arthur! So he was seeking power to face the upcoming threat; perhaps that was a good chance for him!
They talked to each other about this trial yet did not say its location. But Myla said she would leave tomorrow, and Arthur would have to follow her.
"I have to get some people to work in my liquor store then because I will be leaving tomorrow!"
After that, Arthur quietly left the magical school, and no one noticed his presence. He also put a magical tracker on Myla to ensure she would not leave during the night.
Then, Arthur posted that he was hiring in the building where mages went to get jobs, and sure thing, some people came to his store!
He wanted to hire four people, two for the morning-afternoon period and one for the night shift. The liquor store had turned into a bar, so it was starting to remain open til late hours, so it was necessary now to have someone working the night shifts.
Most of the people who came looking for the job were men, and Arthur hired three of them and one woman.
All decent young people, not those who made fun of older adults. They treated Arthur well, but he was certain that was only because he was their boss….
