Chapter 60
“Did the TV station said anything?”
“Aside from the fact that the city gate is open to anyone who want to leave, they recommend everyone to push these giant insects out of their home. If they required help, there’s also phone number to call.”
Jake looked outside and shook his head. The number insects inside this city alone were more than trillions. Even if they tried to control the number of casualties, it will be very difficult for the soldiers to control the masses.
Previously, it was possible because the rats were concentrated in the water channel. As for other animals that also mutated, it would not cause so much problems because their number was exceptionally limited.
But now?
Uh..
If there was no chaos in the city, Jake will never believe it.
“Pack up everything and prepare to leave. Call Kate’s parents to prepare themselves too and we’re going to leave with armored vehicle.”
.....
“Do we even have any armored vehicle?”
“There are several of them.”
Jake raised his hand. “Alright, you’re the one who knows it the best. However, I will need to borrow Little Kitty to take the supplies from my warehouse. There are too many of them and I definitely won’t be able to bring them on my own.”
“Me too.” Dylan nodded.
Kyle nodded. “I’ll meet you there. Make sure no one else is around the mall or your warehouse. First, I need to call Dr. Dall. Oh, Jake, make sure you bring Kate’s parents along with you...”
After giving a few more instruction, Kyle then took Kate away again.
“Meow?”
Kyle glanced at Kate. He didn’t know what she was saying, but he could guess it a bit. “Dr. Dall is my family’s doctor. He usually stays in the City A Research Institute. I’m going to bring him along with me.”
Research Institute?
Kate was stunned and suddenly didn’t feel like coming with Kyle anymore.
From all the places she had come to hate ever since she turned into cat, that research institute was definitely included in the list. She was not a pure mutated cat but also a human being.
She was afraid that others will be able to find out about this secret of hers.
It was a strange feeling.
At one side, Kate didn’t want anyone to know that she was human being. But at the same time, she wanted others to treat her as if they were treating human because she’s a human and not animal.
Kate was conflicted.
“Meow?”
Looking at the puppy look on Kate’s eyes, Kyle was silent for a moment. He tapped her forehead lightly. “It’ll be fine. Dr. Dall is my family’s doctor and wouldn’t do anything to you.”
“Meow...”
Kyle started the car and drove towards the Research Institution. On the way, there were a lot of insects, but they were burned to ash the moment Kyle passed by. Kate picked up the dropping crystals easily.
Seeing that, Kyle knew that Kate also advanced during that short sleep.
‘It’ll be easy to hunt from now with the crystals collecting problem solved. But those of the same color as her will be absorbed directly.’
That didn’t matter too much for Kyle, though. There were no one else in his team that need the same color as Kate. Even if she used them all up, it would be fine.
This red rain seemed to have some kind of properties that allowed people to advance even though they didn’t touch the red rain directly. He himself didn’t want to test the red rain and chose to stay inside.
Soon, they reached an enormous facility.
The introduction plate at the front made Kate feel very uncomfortable. She looked at the plate for a moment then at Kyle, who had rolled the window down and put some kind of card on the machine.
Ding!
Some kind of robotic voices sounded.
Kate looked at the gate curiously but Kyle had already drove the car inside. There was not much time before the ants and various mutated giant insects woke up and created even greater chaos.
Right now, only part of the insects and humans were awake.
They had to move fast.
Kyle parked the car and carried Kate out of the car. He walked into the building in a familiarized way until reaching one of the huge lab with a man who was wearing glasses and lab coat came into view.
“Dr. Dall.”
The glasses man turned around. He looked at Kyle in surprise and furrowed his eyebrows. “What are you doing here, Kyle? I thought you’re busy with hunting those mutated giant animals outside.”
