Chapter 1549
Chapter 1549: The Young Man With a Sword On His Back
“They’re not actual swords, they’re projections from a Metal Virtue Orb!” Lu Yun brought out the Water Virtue Orb that Xing Wuliang had just lent him, propelling its strength with his soul force.
He manifested a world of water virtue around them, one filled with a dense power of water that trapped the golden swords the instant they entered the world, like they’d sunk into a bog. That made them sitting ducks for the Brightheart World King to shatter to pieces.
“Monster!” Xing Wuliang couldn’t help a grumble.
He could barely manage to deploy the world of water virtue inside a Water Virtue Orb with his ninth step soul force. When he called upon it, he had to direct it into his body and make use of it in that indirect fashion. His new junior brother, however, could tangibly manifest the world with his ridiculously vast soul force! This was a connate world projected by a connate treasure; it contained the rules and laws of a complete world.
The trio couldn’t completely take in the situation until Brightheart fully defeated all of the swords.
“That young man’s obtained a Metal Virtue Orb. All of the golden swords and sword dao here come from him.” Brightheart quickly identified the crux of the matter.
“Why do you people like to run headlong to your deaths?” The young man with a sword on his back wore flaming red robes and dangled a sparkling golden gourd from his waist. He sighed with resignation after he swept a glance at the beings charging through the door.
He faced three Void World Kings—not the group with the Divine Fire World King, but ones that’d later entered the tomb. The three were working together to defeat the young man as they wanted to take the Metal Virtue Orb from him.
However, he was too strong for them and wasn’t caught by a disadvantage despite facing three opponents by himself. Instead, it was the three world kings who were thoroughly routed. The golden swords swimming through the air were products of the young man wielding the Metal Virtue Orb in his hands.
Lu Yun’s expression was a bit stiff. He was certain that the young man wasn’t someone he knew, but the former was dressed in a very similar fashion. Flaming red robes and a big golden gourd at his waist… If he’d worn four swords on his back, Lu Yun would’ve been certain that he was looking at Ge Long—Daoist Ingress.
Sadly, he wasn’t, just someone with a strong resemblance. However, the young man did bear nearly identical eccentricity and an air of violence. His moves were sharp, decisive, and completely ruthless. Each sword in the air could and was killing people.
This was a gray and murky world; gray fog filled the air. Shadows flitted in and out of view in the distance and what they potentially hid was unknown. Lu Yun’s immediate vicinity was lit by the young man’s Metal Virtue Orb.
“The orb is his to begin with, it’s not something he found in this tomb. The three are fighting him probably because he’s a Void World King from the Hongmeng.” Xing Wuliang breathed out gently. “There’s no need to be involved in their matters. Let’s move on.”
He glanced at Lu Yun.
“No!” Both Lu Yun and Brightheart objected at the same time. The latter looked at Lu Yun with surprise.
“There are terrifying existences in the depths of the fog,” Lu Yun seemed to be murmuring to himself. “We were wrong. The young man with the sword broke the transportation formation not to keep others from finding their fortune, but to prevent them from arriving here and meeting their deaths.
“We can’t afford to encounter those existences… They’re at least as strong as the Divine Fire World King, a half step Nihil World Sovereign!”
Hummmm.
A loud hum suddenly echoed around them and the golden swords vanished from the air. They were replaced by green light—a flash of green sword light. The Metal Virtue Orb had disappeared from the young man’s hands and the sword on his back emerged from its scabbard.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
Brightheart didn’t have time to determine what was happening before the three Void World Kings battling the youth—three world kings stronger than her—fell to the ground in unison as lifeless corpses.
The young man stood in the air and undid the gourd at his waist, taking a large swig of wine before grumbling, “I should’ve known that there’d be a strong formation master entering the tomb. You fixed the transportation door! You’re just helping people go to their deaths.
“This tomb appeared only for the descendants of the Di Clan. Everything here is for them. What’s a bunch of outsiders sticking their nose in for? Do you really think you’d be able to take a single pebble or grain of sand from the tomb?
“You won’t be making it out alive if you touch anything here. Heh heh heh, this daoist is saving you all!” The flaming red robes he wore was plainly a daoist’s uniform. He took another look at the corpses on the ground. “It’s better for me to kill you and destroy your true spirits and souls than for you to be enslaved by the tomb, never to find salvation.”
The young man’s sword returned to his scabbard and he surreptitiously looked around the premises, then vanished in the fog.
“That’s a being of the Hongmeng?” Lu Yun asked incredulously as he stared in the direction where the odd stranger had vanished.
“Or maybe he’s part of the Sword Clan, who knows.” Brightheart shook her head. “The Void World Kings of the Hongmeng would never be so unconventional.”
“Void World Kings of the Hongmeng would never be able to kill three of their peers with one stroke.” Lu Yun stared off into space.
Since the youth had left with his Metal Virtue Orb, dense fog quickly filtered back in around them. Those who’d just entered the area were unused to the sight; that was quickly the last thing on their minds when ghastly screams sounded out from the fog.
“What was that?!” Xing Wuliang was also attacked, but formations constantly circled around him and kept him safe. However, whatever had attacked him had shattered the formation!
“Zombies!” A talisman appeared in Lu Yun’s hand and he brought it down in front of him.
Puff!
A body with dead eyes froze upon contact and slowly fell backward.
“It’s the three Void World Kings that just died here!” Lu Yun called out.
Chills ran down Brightheart’s spine. Those three had just died!
Thankfully, the young man with the sword had pierced through their foreheads when he killed them, greatly diminishing their strength as zombies. Everything dead here was in the same way and their consciousness ripped apart. This type of treatment ensured that they wouldn’t retain their strength in life if they mutated into zombies after death.
As for being even more thorough and ripping them to pieces… this was the fourth realm. Its inhabitants were powerful beyond comparison and any body part could become a terrifying existence if their core strength wasn’t demolished.
The big hand from earlier had been all that remained of someone who died in spatial turbulence, yet it’d commanded incredible power. Since its consciousness had remained intact, all of its strength had concentrated onto the hand.
“This gray fog can turn corpses into zombies… No, wait. Even the living can be transformed into zombies. This isn’t zombie qi, what is it?!” Xing Wuliang yelped when he saw a true nihil cultivator not too far from him turn into a zombie after the fog entered their body!
