Chapter 134 - Aren't You Cold?
His movement was very unexpected to Xiao li. When she finally realized what had just happened, she was already in his arms and her face pressed against his chest.
Xiao li was stunned. "What are you doing? Let go of me!"
If it were to be in the past, Xiao li would not bother struggling with him. Infact, she would wrap her hands around his waist tightly.
However, it was different now. The day Xiao li found out how the Liu family tried to ruin her reputation, she hated every single member of their family.
She was a very big fool. She even trusted Liu Wei again and wanted to make him her friend after abandoning her on the alter.
"Don\'t move. Aren\'t you cold? I\'m warm and I can protect you from the wind" Liu Wei\'s deep voice sounded above her head.
Xiao li sneered.
Protect her from the wind?
If he had really wanted to protect her, he would have protected her earlier than this. He would have protected her from the embarrassment she felt that day and from the hurtful words piercing through her delicate body that came out from the mouth of those guests.
Xiao li raised her fist and hit it on his chest hard, "Liu Wei, you are a jerk! Let go of me now!"
Her voice was already shaky and Liu Wei knew that she was already crying. Although, her punches were not that painful, he still felt a dull pain in his heart as though her fist was really hitting him right there.
Xiao li realised that he didn\'t even dodge her attacks and applied more strength. When she saw that his grip around her tightened, she opened her mouth and bit hard on his chest.
"Ahh..." Liu Wei winced painfully and quickly let go of her.
Before Liu Wei could even open his mouth to talk, Xiao li had slapped him on the face which made his head tilt to the side.
"How dare you touch me, Liu Wei? How dare you!" she broke into tears and started hitting him with her fist.
Her attacks made him stumble backward a few steps, but he regained his balance and stood his ground.
"How dare you think that you can protect me?" She screamed at him in rage. "Did you even think of protecting me when I stood on the alter, begging you to forgive me? Did you even think of protecting me when your family started spreading rumors about me sleeping with men?"
Every word she said entered his ears causing a painful jab to his heart.
He feared that she might hurt herself and reached out to hold her hand. However, when he looked into her eyes, he frozed. He couldn\'t even bring himself to look into her eyes. Hence, he lowered his head in shame.
She was right!
What right did he have to protect her now?
The time she needed his help the most, he turned his back against her and walked away, leaving her in so much pain and trouble.
When his family were plotting against her, he couldn\'t even protect and stand up for her. Instead, he watched them spread false rumors about her and didn\'t do anything about it.
So, what right did he have right now?
From the moment he saw Xiao li stand outside the hospital room and cried her eyes out for Jingyi Wang, he knew that he meant nothing to her already.
However, he refused to accept the fact that he was nothing to her and accept his fate.
Xiao li cried until her throat was painful and she couldn\'t cry anymore. "Liu Wei, I trusted you so much and believed that you are a good person. Who would have known that you are a jerk. Scumbag!"
As he listened to her words, he felt a sharp stabbing pain starting to spread across his heart.
"I...I-" He stuttered before raising his head slowly to look into her eyes. "I\'m sorry"
Those words finally left his mouth. He felt as if a heavy stone had been lifted off his heart.
He knew that he had failed her a couple of times and there was nothing he could do about it.
"Lili-"
Just as he called her name, Xiao li squatted with her arms wrapped around her knees, she then burst into tears. "Why must it be Jingyi Wang? Why do they have to attack him? Why?"
"Lili..." Liu Wei\'s heart broke into a million pieces as he watched her cry like a baby. When she continued to call Jingyi Wang\'s name, he felt his heart tightened.
What he feared most was that one day, she would no longer want to care about him.
He feared that he would just be a jerk in her heart which he was already.
He lowered his gaze; her tiny, figure looked smaller when she squatted. Her hair and clothes was now stuck to her skin making her look like a drenched puppy in the rain.
At that moment, Liu Wei felt the urge to protect her, but he lost all courage to do so.
After a while, Liu Wei brought her to his car and turned on the heater to warm her up. He looked at her as he spoke again, "Don\'t worry, I will ask RuoRuo to come and pick you up"
"Nevermind, I will go home myself" she stared motionlessly in space as if thinking of something.
Since she told him not to call Zhi Ruo, Liu Wei didn\'t force it and allowed her to leave the car. He watched her wave down a taxi and entered it.
His deep, dark gaze never left her silhouette as she entered the taxi. It was when the taxi left did he retract his gaze. His hand on the steering wheel tightened and his expression darkened. He seemed as if he was thinking of something.
After a while, he picked up his phone and dialed a number, "Help me look into something"
After he said that, he tossed his phone to the other side and started the engine.
In the rain, a sport car drove off in speed.
