Chapter 61 - The Call
The highlight of her week was a late night phone call with Elias on the last night of break.
The week was finally over, and she felt as prepared as she could be for exams. She didn't think she could stomach reading over the material again.
"How was seeing your family?" she asked him.
"They wanted to play 20 questions. They're pretty nosy," Elias replied.
Alyssa laughed lightly. At least his family cared enough to want to know about his life. She hoped that maybe he could get closer to his parents as he got older.
They were probably just overprotective right now. Then again, she didn't really know much about his family still.
"Maybe they just care," she said.
She couldn't remember a time when her parents bothered to try to care for her grades, unless they were trying to make her feel bad about something.
Most of the time, they didn't genuinely care to ask about anything going on in her life. Maybe that was for the best.
When they did start asking questions, it was only for their benefit and never for hers.
"They care a little too much for the wrong reasons," Elias told her. "They try to advance their own agenda."
"What's their agenda?" Alyssa asked him. She could understand where he was coming from, but she wondered what pressure they were putting on him.
Elias was quiet for a few moments.
"Oh, well, my family thinks I'm too cold and not carefree. They think I should enjoy life more.," he replied. "How was your Thanksgiving?"
Alyssa was a bit surprised at the rapid change of subject, but she supposed that he was like her and didn't care to talk about family all that much.
She had to respect that because she acted the same way and wanted others to respect her privacy.
"It was fine. I took the day off and watched Netflix," she told him. It was nice taking a break from studying and catching up on some shows. It could've been a worse day.
"At least you finally relaxed. You're always working so hard," Elias said, sounding slightly concerned.
"It's all I know," Alyssa laughed. She knew that probably wasn't something to laugh about. She was sure there were issues with that behavior, but she couldn't help it.
Working all the time took her mind off of things and made her feel productive. She couldn't just lay around and watch Netflix all the time. That would drive her crazy.
"Well, I'm going to teach you more about fun because that's better than work," Elias replied.
Alyssa smiled as she laid in her bed. She knew that he was right. Her life didn't need to revolve around work, even though it currently did.
It was something that she had to work on, but it wasn't something that would happen overnight, not even with Elias' help.
"We'll have plenty of fun when you get back," Alyssa told him.
"Oh, really?" Elias said, sounding suggestive.
Alyssa bit her bottom lip briefly as certain thoughts crossed her mind. Her worries concerning sex were certainly fading the more heated she got with Elias.
She knew it would feel good to be with him, and it was hard finding reasons to keep putting her first time off. The only obstacle that stood in her way was a place.
She really didn't want her first time to be on her small dorm bed. However, his apartment was about to become available.
"We'll see," she said teasingly.
"Now, you're being the cruel one," Elias sighed. "I'm going to wait as long as you want us to, but I want you so bad."
Alyssa's eyes widened at the drop in his tone. She crossed her legs at her thighs beneath her sheets as she drew in a deep breath through her nose.
She hadn't expected the conversation to take this turn, but she wasn't complaining. She was just nervous about ruining the mood.
"Really?" she asked. He wanted her out of all people?
"Of course, baby," Elias said. "I can't tell you how crazy you drive me."
Alyssa closed her eyes briefly, feeling heat roll through her in waves. No one else had made her feel this way before. Truthfully, she wanted him badly as well.
"Why can't you be here now?" Alyssa sighed, wishing they weren't apart right now. They could put some of these words into action.
It was torturous laying in her bed all alone with these thoughts in her head. She didn't want them to just be thoughts anymore.
"I wish I was," Elias murmured. "But I'll make it up to you when I see you."
"How?" Alyssa asked him, wanting details. Her fantasies were threatening to run wild at that point. It would be nice to have something specific to picture.
Elias chuckled.
"Well, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise," he told her.
Alyssa groaned as she threw her head back against her pillow. Of course, he was going to tease her. It only made her want him more, but she would have to wait to see him.
"Mood killer," she told him. She expected him to keep going, but she should've known that he wasn't going to give her that satisfaction. He liked to play games.
"Well, I wouldn't want you to start without me," Elias smirked.
Alyssa felt herself blush at the thought of having a little alone time with her head full of thoughts of him.
It had crossed her mind more than once, but she wanted to base her fantasies on fact, not fiction.
She wanted to see what he would actually do to her because it would blow her mind more than anything she could conjure up in her mind with no experience.
"Yeah, yeah. I hope you know finals week is the biggest mood killer. I'll be in bed with my books, not with you," she warned him.
As much as she wanted to jump him the second he got back, she knew that they wouldn't have much time for alone time until the end of the week.
"Lucky books," Elias replied. "Finals week better fly by."
"I hope so," Alyssa sighed. It was already hard to focus on finals week because she missed him, but now it was going to be even harder because she knew that she had something to look forward to afterwards.
