Chapter 333
Gu Ren looked at her again.
Everything happened so quickly that Ye Zhi wasn’t able to react. She didn’t know what his thought process was either.
As if it was arranged, neither spoke a word.
Somehow, in this silence, an ambiguous meaning was born inexplicably.
About half a minute later, Gu Ren, who had been motionless, lowered his head quickly. Then, he leaned his head forward until the distance between them was reduced to only an inch.
Ye Zhi’s slender eyelashes trembled slightly. Suddenly, a warm sensation was felt on her lips.
Her heartbeat was frantic and the night wind had stopped blowing at some point; her surroundings were so quiet that there was nothing else audibly heard but the sounds of their breathing.
Gu Ren stretched out his hand, gently covering Ye Zhi’s back with his slender fingers. Encircling her, he narrowed the distance between the two of them.
Ye Zhi’s hand shook and the phone slipped from her hand, falling onto the patch of grass beside her. As early spring was approaching, only the buds of the growing grass were starting to show.
Thump.
The screen of the phone was faced upwards and the flash that was just turned on fell onto a patch of the green grass. The light was covered by the surrounding darkness and only a sliver of light was faintly revealed.
The surroundings seemed to be plunged into darkness whereas the villas in the distance were lit, but the light over there seemed remote and misty.
This place was like an isolated paradise.
A place where they wouldn’t be disturbed, unable to be invaded by any other.
Ye Zhi closed her eyelids quietly and blocked out the faintly distant light as if she was accompanying Gu Ren to experience the scenery of his dark world.
If there was only a faint light illuminated, for him, it was still a dark night.
Gu Ren gave Ye Zhi a deep kiss under the dark night that he was accustomed to.
The world was so quiet, silent to the point where she could hear her own heartbeat pounding like the sound of drums. The sound made her mind a jumbled mess.
When Ye Zhi opened his eyes, she caught sight of Gu Ren’s eyes again.
She looked away, bending down slightly to pick up her phone. With the light of the mobile phone, they walked to the next street lamp.
Along the way, Gu Ren and Ye Zhi did not speak.
Gu Ren glanced at Ye Zhi from time to time. Sometimes, her gaze would meet his and then proceed to look away at the next moment.
But just a few seconds later, her eyes would subconsciously direct her attention onto him once again.
Gu Ren curved his lips and couldn’t help but laugh at her. Ye Zhi blushed before turning around and running into the villa. Despite hearing the voice of the housekeeper, Ye Zhi didn’t answer. Instead, she went up the stairs and walked straight into the room.
When Ye Zhi woke up the next morning, she saw David Austin’s Roses(1) placed beside the bed.
(T/N: A brand famous for the cultivation of English roses.)
The flowers that were yet to fully bloom, at this moment, had a light shade of yellow as the base as the upper layer of the petals were gradiently reddish. The overall gradual colour however, was intriguingly beautiful.
When the roses gradually opened afterwards, she would be able to see new surprises.
Ye Zhi went downstairs. She didn’t have much of a schedule today, so Mrs. Gu made an appointment with her to take her shopping.
The Gu family knew that Ye Zhi’s next movie was a very tiring task. Besides, they always wanted to find opportunities to make her happy.
Mrs. Gu didn’t want Ye Zhi to be secretly photographed, so she rented out the whole shopping mall for an entire afternoon.
Throughout the afternoon, there would be no other customers here except for the two of them.
