Chapter 210
Thus, he asked another question so that the alpha wouldn’t keep on smiling. He was starting to get chills in his bones when he watched that unsettling look on Romulus’ face. “Milord, you said that you had something to discuss with me before we went to the coronation tomorrow. May I ask what that is? Is there something that I need to do?”
Romulus snapped out of his fantasy world and gave a nod. “Oh, yes. It almost skipped my mind. Yes, I need you to do something for me tomorrow, but I am not exactly sure what that thing should be. So, I wanted to discuss the possibilities with you.”
“I would be happy to discuss,” Lorenzo said while sitting a little more comfortably than before.
Romulus pondered upon something for a while and then said to Lorenzo, “Tomorrow, a lot of people will be witnessing the coronation ceremony. And a lot of powerful people will be attending the party and the ball.”
He sat up straight on the bed and then kept on speaking with a very serious tone, “And what I am thinking is that, if I make everyone see that Everard is nothing but a child who doesn’t know a thing about ruling the Kingdom, then I can use that to my advantage later.”
Romulus looked at Lorenzo and excitedly explained further, “What I mean to say is that I can easily rile people up and sway them to my side if he ever tries to outsmart me and make some stupid decision like his father. But I hope that it won’t ever come down to that. He looks like someone who I can easily control.”
Lorenzo nodded his head in understanding and then asked, “So, we have to do something tomorrow to make him look like a fool in front of everyone?”
Romulus clapped his hand and said while laughing, “Yes, Lorenzo! I knew you were a smart one. That is exactly what we are going to do tomorrow. Make him look like a fool; make him look like an eccentric teenager.”
.....
He leaned forward towards Lorenzo and then asked for his opinion, “So, what do you say, Lorenzo? What can we do to bring that eccentric side out of him?”
Lorenzo’s heart started to beat a little faster. He was very well aware that what he was going to suggest would harm Everard’s reputation. However, he couldn’t do anything about that discomfort in his heart. His loyalty rested with his alpha, and not with the Crown Prince.
“Maybe we could make him drunk? He has been drinking these days. I’m sure it won’t be hard to do so.”
“Hmm...” Romulus narrowed his eyes and then asked, “What kind of drunk is he? It won’t make any difference if he is the type to simply pass out or if he is the type to stay quiet like a stone for the rest of the night.”
Lorenzo shook his head and replied confidently, “He is the type who doesn’t look drunk even when he is drunk out of his mind. And he tends to say and do stupid things while keeping a straight face.”
Romulus chuckled, amused by what he heard. “Perfect! That’s exactly the type of person who will make a fool out of themselves without even realizing it.”
He then jumped out of his bed and rushed outside without telling Lorenzo where he was going, or if Lorenzo was supposed to run after him or not.
“Er...” Lorenzo pouted his lips and stared at the door for a while. ‘Where did he go? I hope I wasn’t supposed to follow him or something,’ he thought to himself and kept on sitting right where he was.
After a few minutes, Romulus ran back inside and towered in front of Lorenzo, almost startling him.
“Here, keep this with you,” Romulus said while handing out a bottle that was smaller than his palm.
Lorenzo was confused to see the bottle, but he took it anyway.
Romulus went and sat down on his bed again. Then he pointed at the bottle in Lorenzo’s hand and said, “That’s the strongest blend of whiskey to ever exist. I personally oversaw the brewing process to ensure that the batch was perfect for the werewolves. Glad that it is about to be far more useful than I thought.”
“Ah!” Lorenzo looked at the bottle and mumbled in an impressed tone, “So this is the famous whiskey that is said to knock the werewolves out.”
“Yes!” Romulus proudly flared his nose and then instructed his most important chess piece at the moment, “Make sure not to let him drink the whole bottle. Just half of it will be enough.”
Lorenzo safely slipped the bottle into his pocket and then agreed, “I will do as you say, Milord.”
Romulus then further said, “I will stick around until you make him drink it. And rest assured that I will assist you, in case he is unapproachable. I heard that there will be a separate gathering place for the Kings and Alphas during the ball.”
“That would be really helpful then. But I will try to complete the task on my own.” Lorenzo cleared his throat and asked, “Is there anything else that needs to be addressed, Milord?”
Romulus closed his eyes and then thought for a while. And he asked, “Ah! Yes! I had been meaning to ask you something.”
“Yes, please go on, Milord.” Lorenzo listened carefully.
Romulus crossed his legs and then asked, “What’s Everard’s relation with that woman? Are they that close already that he sent people to fetch her parents?”
Lorenzo nervously scratched his brow because he also wasn’t sure about the true nature of their relationship – whether they were mates or whether they were simply very close with each other.
However, what he was sure of was that Ruby was someone who was important to Everard. So, he replied, “He always keeps her around. She is someone who is very important to him. But...”
“But?” Romulus raised one of his brows and asked.
Lorenzo looked Romulus in the eyes and said, “But I think she recently ran away from the castle. The Crown Prince was asking me if she had contacted me by any chance.”
Romulus narrowed his eyes and asked in a little harsh tone, “And you didn’t think this piece of information was important enough to fall into my ears?”
Lorenzo nervously replied, “I also just found out a while ago, Milord. I am really sorry.”
“Hmm... Okay.” Romulus nodded and went into deep thought.
Lorenzo could tell that he was plotting something already, so he didn’t dare to speak or move. While waiting for Romulus to give an order to him, he also went into deep thought.
He tilted his head and then thought as he recalled something, ‘Since when was she lost again? Wasn’t that her who I saw running down the hall of the castle just this morning?’
