Chapter Volume 16 90: Breaking the Armor
When Lin Xi said those words seriously to Zhang Ping, there seemed to be countless streaks of light and vital energy that flowed into his body, and then came back out. This made everyone feel as if his body was exceptionally pure and bright, yet everything beneath his feet was instead exceptionally dark, as if a black flower was blooming.
The red-purple color in Zhang Ping’s eyes became even greater. His eyes seemed to have completely turned into red-purple flames. His body became pitch-black, the blood vessels that protruded on the surface of his skin instead produced a violet golden color.
Eyes burning with red-purple flames, pitch-black skin, violent golden runes, all of these things carried powerful visual impact. Everyone found it a bit hard to believe when they saw his changes.
After throwing out that spear, he wasn’t in a hurry to attack Xu Shengmo again. Instead, he said to Lin Xi, “Not black, not white.”
Lin Xi chuckled. “The darkness gave me black eyes, and I used them to seek radiance.”
“Your Immortal Transformation was granted to you by Principal Zhang?” Zhang Ping looked at Lin Xi. “What does it have to do with that torrential rain?”
Lin Xi frowned. He didn’t reply to Zhang Ping and instead said with mockery, “That is why you still carry fear within you. Apart from being scared of me, you fear Principal Zhang. But why should I answer your question?”
Zhang Ping remained silent for a bit. “I can also answer one of your questions.”
Lin Xi thought for a bit. He didn’t want to say anything more than needed either. “In East Scenery City, your Purgatory Mountain used a bead against me before. This seems to be the weapon Purgatory Mountain prepared to eliminate me. When you crossed Thousand Sunset Mountain, on our way to Central Continent City, you told me that you didn’t know. Since you’ve hidden so many things from us, I believe you probably know what that bead was.”
Zhang Ping gave Lin Xi a look. “That was a Soul Washing Bead, something that could wash away your memories and perception, turn you into a puppet. It’s just a pity that it already lost its effectiveness after such a long time.”
“Soul Washing Bead?” Lin Xi was stunned. Many indescribable emotions immediately surfaced in his head. He looked at Zhang Ping with sympathy, shaking his head. “It was only a pity that the Soul Washing Bead wasn’t ineffective, but rather that it is useless against a Divine General like me.”
“But let me tell you this. It was instead me who got rid of one of your doubts, and not that you answered my questions.” After a moment of hesitation, Lin Xi looked at Zhang Ping and laughed, adding this.
“You still wish to continue angering me,” Zhang Ping said coldly, “But I do not believe that you have any reason to feel so arrogant. I do not believe that I have any fear within me. If Principal Zhang is still in this world, I will kill him all the same if he appears before me. Even if you could transfer the world’s vital energy like the past immortal cultivators, so what? I can tell you the reason why I do not cherish those Devilmask Doves, nor do I care about the deaths of all those soldiers and cultivators.”
“It is because everything was within my control to begin with.” Zhang Ping sneered, his voice making everyone in this wasteland shiver. “You rely on the world’s natural energy, while I rely more on myself. There are so many people here, so many powerful fiend beasts died. For me, the only purpose they serve is to make the natural vital energy no longer as pure. Hell will forever be the devil king’s battlefield.”
“With your cultivation, you can obviously choose to run and switch to a better battlefield. I will then kill everyone here.” Zhang Ping’s eyes landed on Xu Shengmo, Gao Yanan and the others’ bodies.
Lin Xi frowned.
Right at this time, a faint fragrance suddenly wafted out from the bloody pit where so many divine elephants and soldiers died.
Zhang Ping’s voice came to a screeching halt.
Everyone was alarmed to see that all types of flowers blossomed within the bloodbath. A lot of grass grew, a fresh and sweet aura was flourishing. Meanwhile, the foul bloody aura was quickly broken down and scattered.
Lin Xi chuckled again. He looked at Zhang Ping with a deeply moved expression. “I fear that you’ve still forgotten something. Your defeat isn’t under my hands alone, but rather under this entire world.”
Zhang Ping raised his head.
He could sense that even those Purgatory Mountain Divine Adjudicators and cultivators loyal to him began to secretly leave.
He felt like he had returned to that day when he had been completely abandoned by everyone inside of that giant devil king face.
“If this world isn’t the one I want, then I will end it.”
He felt his liver split into countless fine antennas that didn’t belong to himself, but he no longer suppressed his anger. The surface of his body began to burn with red-purple flames. He raised his pitch-black right hand and reached behind him, his five fingers bending slightly.
There wasn’t a lot of powerful soul force surging in the air, but a great explosion sounded behind him.
A wave of scorching hot black flames completely burned away the air between him and the soul weapon throne behind him, turning everything into nothingness. The heavy throne made from countless soul weapons was instantly moved by the sweeping winds, appearing behind him.
His right hand grabbed the soul weapon throne.
His body shook fiercely. Countless spiderweb cracks appeared beneath his feet. The soul weapon throne was thrown towards the blooming flowers in front of him.
The instant his hand separated from the soul weapon throne, this throne completely broke apart and turned into countless pieces of broken soul weapons. These pieces began to burn from the air friction, and then they attacked all of the Fiend Race cultivators below.
This was the same as a myriad of burning flying swords thrusting into the ground, as if endless Sacred Experts were attacking.
“No matter how powerful Lin Xi is, would he be able to stop so many flying sword like soul weapons at the same time?”
This thought couldn’t help but emerge in the hearts of many people’s heads.
But Lin Xi’s reaction was much faster than any of them. The instant the soul weapon throne had just begun to break apart, Lin Xi already said, “I’ve already told you that you won’t be able to kill any of them unless you kill me first.”
The instant he spoke, light already poured out of his body endlessly.
This light spread through the air, forming layers after layers of runes. Transparent small swords that almost seemed tangible formed in the sky, attacking those burning soul weapons like illusions.
The burning soul weapons were ruined in the sky, ultimately turning into fine powder under the sword light. They sparkled faintly as they scattered down, just like those flying fireflies back then by Summer Spirit Lake.
…
Lin Xi looked at Zhang Ping through all the radiance. The flowers continued to bloom, erasing that bloody battlefield and producing a beautiful and auspicious sea of flowers.
Zhang Ping didn’t look at the sea of flowers. He also looked at Lin Xi through the firefly-like lights. Right now, Lin Xi was more disgusting than ever before. However, he knew that what Lin Xi said was true. Lin Xi was already at the same cultivation realm as himself. Only if he killed Lin Xi, would he be able to kill everyone else.
He reached behind himself again.
That foundation of that soul weapon throne broke apart.
A set of armor covered his body as if it had a life of its own.
What previously brought him his victory in Central Continent wasn’t Zhang Ping’s cultivation, but rather his armor.
That was why this armor was especially intimidating. With its appearance, the entire wasteland once more became deathly still.
What made everyone even more shocked was that this armor was already different from the armor that first appeared in Central Continent City.
There was a flat blue gemstone added to this armor’s chest. The surface of the armor had many concentrated green patterns added to it.
The large and heavy armor covered Zhang Ping’s body, covering his expression.
Then, the Zhang Ping clad in this armor began to move.
Zhang Ping previously already said that more of his power came from himself. That was why most people understood this as his physical strength and soul force together would bring him the greatest fighting strength. That was why he absolutely couldn’t be allowed to close the distance.
But Lin Xi only calmly reached out his hand when he faced the approaching Zhang Ping. His fingers formed a sword and thrusted outwards.
That flying sword Lin Xi used before was no longer in his hands, but rather on Nangong Weiyang. There were no flying swords that flew out from around him when he trusted out with his fingers either. However, there were still innumerable strands of natural vital energy that poured into his body from all sides, and were then fired from his fingertips.
Countless flying swords condensed from natural vital energy formed in front of his fingertips, and then continuously flew at Zhang Ping.
None of the cultivators could follow the speed at which these flying swords condensed. They only saw that in this instant, there was already a myriad of flying swords in the sky continuously hacking at Zhang Ping.
The countless flying swords formed a giant stream that smashed into Zhang Ping.
However, these flying swords couldn’t truly touch the surface of Zhang Ping’s armor.
There was a green layer of light that wrapped around him, blocking these flying swords outside.
“You are indeed a genius in terms of natural arts. You were able to construct this type of formation through a single gemstone,” Lin Xi said this seriously.
When he saw that these flying swords couldn’t pose any threat to this armor, his expression didn’t change at all.
Everyone had a shocking discovery.
While condensing the world’s natural energy, Lin Xi’s soul force didn’t seem to be decreasing at all.
The heaven and earth vital energy that unceasingly poured into his body seemed to be passing through his body and then making these flying swords on its own.
More and more flying swords flew towards Zhang Ping, neverending… Lin Xi seemed like he could fight forever!
The green barrier began to fade. Zhang Ping’s advance became slower and slower, eventually moving like a normal person through mud.
After moving just a dozen or so steps, the faint green barrier shattered into countless bright runes. Countless flying swords began to truly hack down onto Zhang Ping’s armor.
