Chapter 91: To Spend Another Night Together

Liu Man thought Daylight looked happier than she was back at home.

Unconsciously, the time had passed midnight.

Yu Zhan checked the clock.

“Man Man, it’s time to rest.”

He forgot to disguise his voice when he said this. Fortunately, he didn’t say it in a loud voice.

“Did you guys hear that? How God said that ‘Man Man’ sounds so warm.”

“It gives me such a gentle feeling. Vet god must be a very gentle person! I can even imagine how gentle he is when he treats pets.”

“Aha, so sis’ nickname is ‘Man Man’. I will remember that, hehe!”

Liu Man and her fans exchanged their goodbyes before she logged out of her live-stream.

Yu Zhan asked her, “Are your parents home?”

“No, my mother’s back at my grandparents’, so she’s not in the capital right now. My father…” Liu Man paused, “He’s on a business trip.”

Liu Man’s lie was not convincing at all.

But Yu Zhan didn’t ask anything, “Since there’s no one in your house at the moment, you can stay here for a night. I’ll send you and Daylight home tomorrow.”

Liu Man didn’t reject his offer. She didn’t have a reason to be stubborn about bringing Daylight home at such a late time. Besides, she had already stayed in the same room with Yu Zhan at the hotel. It would be too coquettish for her to argue whether it was appropriate for a man and a woman to live in the same room now.

Furthermore, Yu Zhan’s home was much bigger than that suite back at the Quan Jing Hotel.

This apartment only took one floor, but it had four rooms. The largest room belonged to Yu Zhan. One was his study, one was for Paul, and the last one was a guest room. Although the guest room was the smallest, it was still as big as Liu Man’s bedroom in her own house.

The guest room came with its bathroom, and the furniture in the room was much better than the ones in the Quan Jing hotel. Everything was brand new.

Yu Zhan opened the guest room’s door for Liu Man, and out came a light scent of flowers. Liu Man looked around and asked curiously, “Has there never been anyone living here before? It’s so clean and pristine; there’s not a single dusty spot to be found.”

Yu Zhan was placing the luggage for her. He lifted his head to say, “I’m usually very busy with the pet clinic, so I don’t have time to do chores. I hire two hourly workers to clean the apartment for me every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. But nobody has lived in the guest room yet; you’re the first one. To be exact, nobody else has ever come to my house, excluding the hourly workers and me.”

Although Yu Zhan had on a smile when he said this, and his tone was normal, Liu Man still felt he was very lonely. Fortunately, he always had Paul to accompany him.

Just like how Daylight accompanied her when she first came to this world.

That night, Liu Man had a good night of sleep in Yu Zhan’s guest room. She did not have any dreams. Although Daylight was with Paul and didn’t crawl up to Liu Man, she still knew Yu Zhan was accompanying her next door.

The next day, Liu Man packed up and was ready to go home.

Daylight seemed to already have predicted she was going to separate from her friend. She ran everywhere and hid under the sofa, and she refused to come out no matter how much Liu Man coaxed her. Paul was barking at one side, as if he was protesting, too.

At last, it was still up to Yu Zhan. He first calmed his dog by petting his chin and back, and then he whispered something near Paul’s ears. Paul immediately stopped barking, lowered his head, and sat on the floor with his hind legs curled up. He looked very disappointed and upset.

Daylight, who cared very much about Paul, poked her head out from under the sofa. She got immediately picked up by Yu Zhan, who had been waiting at one side.

“Meow~

” Daylight struggled angrily, but Yu Zhan suddenly circled his hands around her neck and kissed her forehead.

The kitten’s eyes widened into big and round shapes, and she stopped moving. She obediently stayed in Yu Zhan’s arms and looked up at Liu Man as if she was wronged.

Liu Man’s heart softened, and she almost told Yu Zhan she was going to leave Daylight here.

But her logos conquered her pathos. Yu Zhan was going to be very busy after the break ended, and he probably wouldn’t even have time to walk his dog. He wasn’t responsible for caring for Daylight.

Yu Zhan saw how Liu Man debating with herself, “You can bring Daylight to my pet clinic or my apartment any time you want if you want her to hang out with Paul.”

Liu Man sighed, “That’s the only way for her to see Paul.”

Liu Man’s house hadn’t been occupied for more than a dozen days. Although Zhang Pei had closed all the windows and doors, there was still a layer of dust on the floor and the furniture. Liu Man cleaned her room, prepared some cat food and water, and shut Daylight in the bedroom. She then started cleaning other rooms.

Liu Man’s house also had four rooms. One belonged to her, one belonged to her parents, another was a study, and the last one was a guest room.

She started with cleaning the study and the guest room before cleaning her parents’ room.

The room wasn’t large. It had one bed, two bedside tables, a closet, and Zhang Pei’s dressing table.

As Liu Man wiped the dressing table, she noticed there was an open drawer. She tried shutting it, but there were too many things piled inside that it got stuck. She pulled it out, but because she used too much force, a notebook fell out.

Liu Man hurriedly picked it up and took a glance over it, but she got attracted to the content in the notebook:

“Money in the bank: 320k;

Accessories: 140k;

Car: ?

The loan from mother: 50k;

The loan from brother: 50k;

The loan from sister: 50k;

The loan from my friend, Sun Yiyi: 150k;

The loan from friend A: 20k;

The loan from friend B: 20k;

The loan from friend C: 20k;

Bank loan: two million…”

So this was Zhang Pei’s ledger.

Zhang Pei kept all records of her loans ever since her husband went to jail.

Excluding Lawyer Sun, Zhang Pei had borrowed 20k from three other friends. Liu Chenyu’s car was held in, and it was unknown when they would return it.

Liu Man calculated. Excluding the two million RMB the bank gave them for the house loan, they still needed a hundred and eighty thousand RMB to make sure they had three million in total.

She had approximately a hundred and fifty thousand RMB.

She still needed thirty-thousand more.

Today was already February 19th. There were less than ten days until March 1st when they would have to pay the Wang family money.

Liu Man thought of that fifty-thousand part-time payment, but nobody had told her when she would be able to receive it.

She turned on her phone, found the stage manager and WeChat messaged him.

The stage manager replied: “I am only responsible for paying the cast’s extras. You are different from them because you signed your contract directly with the company. Ask someone from Galaxy Films.”

Liu Man only had the contact of one person from Galaxy Films; Qiu Jing. Qiu Jing was the Deputy General Manager. Even if Liu Man didn’t know how businesses work, she still knew how impolite it would be if she asked a Deputy General Manager for her salary when they were still on break.

But she asked anyway.

“Professor Qiu, hello. When can I receive my salary?”
