Chapter 119: It had become the curse of all the tragic characters in the book! (2)
Meanwhile, Lu Xun, still happy from his dinner, thought if only he could have a certain someone following him around, that ought to make him even happier…
He has had a scrumptious meal, but his nephew hasn’t. That’s not the joy that one could experience all the time! (And not very many cared to experience it either!) That complacent look on his nephew was very annoying any way he looked at him!
The young man looked at him, then his sight moved downward to his midsection. He said, “Little uncle, you have been gaining some weight.”
Lu Xun froze for a second then reflexively touched his belly area…
His abdominal muscles were still defined. Whew!
He stared at his nephew angrily. “Your little uncle is still very much handsome and chic. What do you mean I am fat? Stop with that nonsense already!”
Almost scared the sh*t out of him!
Not wanting to engage with him any further, Lu Mingzhe turned away.

The next day, after Lu Xun walked out the conference room after a meeting, he happened to see a group of people walking past him.
Executive Assistant Zhou, standing next to Lu Xun, with his amazing observation skill, had a very good idea of what was going through their CEO’s mind just from the way that he was staring at the group.
“That’s Manager Xiang and a few others from the Film and TV Drama Production and Investment Department. The one next to her is probably the new and upcoming actress, Zhang Xiying. Oh, right, she’s Meng Yan’s wife.”
Executive Assistant Zhou continued to speculate. “Rumor had it that Director Lu Sen is looking for the cast for his new show. It will be a high-budget one and the company has invested a lot of money in it. That is probably what Manager Xiang and Zhang Xiying will be discussing today.”
Lu Xun gave a very concise “Mmm” and looked away from the group.
As the boss of Shengshi, the number one entertainment company, sometimes he didn’t even need to say a word, just a look from him and there would be those who could interpret it and offered up everything he wanted to know about it.
Executive Assistant Zhou, being able to get to where he was today and being able to be serving the boss for so many years, may not be able to read the boss’s mind, but could definitely read his look.
As such, he searched in his head every little piece of information that he could think of and spilled the beans. “Ever since Zhang Xiying has been married, she had been trying to break out of her original typecast and convert to that of a more mature woman. Especially now that the market has relatively more idol drama and historical drama, very few could win an award from those types of production. Plus, her husband is the film emperor, it only makes sense that she wants to move into the large screen.”
Having said that, he chuckled. “The most prestigious award in China is the Golden Phoenix Award. Who could blame her for wanting to have a shot at it?”
Many actors or actresses had tried to give the large screen a shot and all ended badly.
But, even so, there were always more who’d go after it. After all, the most accomplished award was the ultimate goal of an actor/actress.
