Chapter 209 - 209 The Plant King
“This is…”
After seeing the wound clearly, Shen Fei’s expression suddenly changed. He recognized the wound: it was caused by the vines that had attacked them earlier.
Shen Fei’s heart jumped. “Indeed, this is the most terrifying existence in this ancient forest.”
!!
He was almost killed just now. If he had not left the area in time, he would have been dead.
But he could not do anything to the vine. Clearly, the vines were too strong. Ordinary Beastmasters definitely would not be able to deal with them.
With a solemn expression, Shen Fei turned around and looked at Li Yuan and the rest. “You have to get used to this place as soon as possible. You have to improve your strength as soon as possible!”
“Yeah!” Hearing this, Li Yuan and the others all nodded heavily. This place was indeed very dangerous.
“In that case, let’s head off now!” Shen Fei said.
“Alright!” Everyone nodded and continued on.
After passing through the ancient forest, a lake came into sight. The lake water was rippling.
Shen Fei could clearly feel the cold aura of the lake, and it caused everyone to feel an inexplicable throbbing in their hearts. They also felt a chill seeping in from all directions, directly penetrating into their bones.
“This lake water contains the ice attribute.” Shen Fei was surprised.
In the Nanling Mountain Range, water was scarce. Not to mention, this lake seemed to be at below freezing temperatures.
“We have to be careful,” Shen Fei reminded everyone.
“Yes.” Hearing this, everyone nodded, indicating that they understood. Then, they stepped into the air and walked toward the frozen lake in front of them.
There were a few rocks near the lake. Shen Fei landed on it and looked around. He felt cold air. The cold almost seemed to erode his soul, making it shiver.
Suddenly, the air seemed to ripple. Then, a vine appeared and wrapped around his waist. Two more vines came at the same time. They were like long snakes and their speed was swift. In the blink of an eye, they appeared in front of Shen Fei.
The two vines were like two venomous pythons, baring their fangs and brandishing their claws as they pounced on him.
“Hiss, hiss!”
As they swirled, strange howling noises rang out, causing the air to distort.
The vine-pythons were actually spirit weapons—daggers. The two daggers were sharp and flickered with a cold glint as they stabbed at Shen Fei.
“Get lost!” Shen Fei’s gaze sharpened as he struck out with his palm.
Suddenly, a giant palm pushed out at the daggers. Flames rose from the palm, and heat swept out in all directions. The two spirit weapons immediately cracked and turned into dust.
Shen Fei punched out once more, and two more spirit weapons shattered and disappeared.
A student looked worriedly at the spirit weapon fragments. “What do we do?”
“Summon your spirit beasts to deal with these vines,” Shen Fei said. His tone was calm, as though he had already expected such a situation.
“Alright.” Hearing this, everyone nodded and immediately summoned their own spirit beasts. Li Yuan also urged his spirit beast to fight with the others.
Shen Fei stood there, silently watching everything. His eyes became deep, and no one knew what he was thinking.
Li Yuan commanded the Silver Snow Tiger, “Silver Snow Tiger, Stunning Spiked Eagles!”
“Roar!”
The two demonic birds leaped out, and the Silver Snow Tiger’s back glowed with silver light, releasing a cold frost. The air seemed to freeze wherever the frost touched. The blades on the backs of the Spiked Eagles clanged as though they were going to break the sky. When the Silver Snow Tiger made its move, the vines swayed and attacked.
A low shout came from within the vines, and immediately, blue flowers bloomed from the vines and shot out like sharp arrows, killing several of their spirit beasts.
The moment the flower bud burst out, a soft cry was heard. There, light and shadow flickered, and a thick vine suddenly whipped out. The flower buds crumbled instantaneously around the vine, like butter melting under a hot knife.
Seeing this, Li Yuan’s expression suddenly changed. “What is this?”
Shen Fei’s voice came, “It’s a plant king.”
“A plant king?” Li Yuan’s eyes flashed.
Plant kings rarely appeared, but when they did, they were extremely terrifying. This required a certain level of cultivation. In fact, some kings had cultivated to the point where they could defy the heavens.
For example, the king could control a branch to change form and cover the whole sky, spanning across the mountains and rivers.
“Its strength is comparable to an Emperor-rank beast,” Shen Fei said.
Li Yuan’s heart jumped. “It’s that strong?!”
Shen Fei continued, “But this plant king is also limited. Otherwise, it wouldn’t even need to resort to ambush to crush us all.”
“Limited?” Li Yuan asked suspiciously while gazing at the sky for any other dangers.
“Although its cultivation level is high, it’s still a plant-type spirit being. Transforming to such a level is easier said than done,” Shen Fei said. “These plant-type spirit beings usually cultivate slowly, and advance one step at a time. It would not take long to transform into a king, as long as there are enough resources.”
Li Yuan and the others heaved a sigh of relief when they heard this. Then, they continued to urge their spirit beasts to attack.
“This plant king isn’t that strong yet!”
Li Yuan frowned. Logically speaking, even if a plant king could not win, it should be able to stall the enemy and buy itself a chance to escape. But it seemed that this plant king did not pose much of a threat.
“Perhaps it’s just strong in defense,” Shen Fei said.
Just as they were discussing it, the vine suddenly showed its might. It wriggled, and the green leaves attached to it stood up and slashed at them like blades.
Swish! The green leaves flew everywhere as they shot out like a rain of arrows. Everyone trembled in fear.
“Scatter!” Li Yuan roared. He lent his strength to the Silver Snow Tiger. Light patterns flickered around the spirit beast’s body, gathering on its wings and turning them into blades.
The spirit beast immediately slashed with its wings, trying to cut the green leaves.
Clang, clang!
However, when the Silver Snow Tiger’s attack struck, the leaves only separated into more pieces. The Silver Snow Tiger’s bladed feathers were sliced off and blood splattered around the area.
Li Yuan and the others shivered in fear. “These vines are too hard. We can’t fight them head-on. Retreat!”
Everyone retreated at once, but the leaves were in hot pursuit.
At this moment, Xia’er looked at Shen Fei who was standing to the side and said impatiently, “Shen Fei, why are you still standing there? Hurry up and help us!”
“Alright,” Shen Fei said with a nod. He raised his hand and pointed at the space in front of him.
Suddenly, a finger appeared. It was the true dragon finger, with a sharp golden aura that seemed to penetrate everything.
As the finger’s radiance fell on the area, the dense leaves were blown away, and several streams of green sap splashed out.
The sap were like arrows, spurting through the air and stabbing straight into the grass in the distance. Li Yuan, Xia’er, and the others were shocked by what they saw.
